Reserves 1-1 Cleethorpes Town Reserves – Encouraging Start To Pre-Season

17th July 2019 Off By bartontown

The Reserves kicked off their pre season campaign with a fair 1-1 draw against a young, well organised Cleethorpes Town Reserves in front of a 60 plus crowd at The Easy Buy on Monday evening.

With 21 players getting a run out each and with no fewer than six new faces including three 16 year olds, it was an encouraging first outing for The Swans Reserves side.

First half was a fairly even contest with Barton enjoying more of the possession but the young Cleethorpes side created more chances when in possession.

Sam Wood on debut for Barton saving nearly low to his right early on and a tame wide effort from Barton the highlights of the opening 30 minutes.

Cleethorpes opened the scoring in classy style when dispossessing a Barton midfield man some really smart set up play down the right side saw the Clee right back deliver an excellent cross which was cleverly glanced past Wood in the Barton net seven minutes before the break.

Cleethorpes took the lead shortly before half time.

A more balanced line up started the second half and Barton began to create more chances down both flanks with added height up top to aim at.

Clee also used any possession they had to put the Barton defence under pressure.

Barton were unlucky in finding an equaliser when Coleman smashed his effort against the bar of the Clee goal…

That brought some momentum and in the 80th minute Barton were rewarded with a goal , another cross was delivered into the box and the loose ball fell to the feet of Daniel Goluch, who smashed the ball home under the Clee ‘keeper’s dive from close range.

Daniel Goluch equalised for the Swans to earn a deserved draw.

A fair result , in a game played in the right spirit for this time of the preparation heading into the new season.

All the best of luck to Cleethorpes Town Reserves in their Lincolnshire league campaign.
