Barton Town fell to a 4-1 loss at Bridlington Town at Queensgate on Saturday.

Billy Logan opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half before Danny North equalized 20 minutes from the end. However a quick brace from Chris Adams and a further goal from Tom Waudby sealed the win for the Seasiders.

The Swans were missing two key players in Taron Hare and Craig Disley, who missed his first game of the season. North and Stephen Cooper deputised for the injured pair.

It was a frenetic opening period, with both teams fighting for the ascendency. The game was end to end and great football was played by both sides. However it was the hosts who took the lead 19 minutes in.

Bridlington broke clear and only had Sam Riches to beat. Riches came out and the ball was taken past him. The initial shot was cleared well off the line by Cooper, but the follow up effort was scored by Billy Logan.

The goal seemed to spur Barton on, who had a great spell of dominance. The Swans bombarded the Seasiders area, as Ben Hinchliffe was first to challenge the Brid goal. His effort went just wide of the goal.

Next was Waide Fairhurst who couldn’t beat former Swan Will Waudby, with Matt Plummer next to have a go. Somehow the Seasiders defence continued to clear the ball and defend well.

The next attempt was the closest Barton got to equalizing in the first half. Noel Burdett had a free kick around 25 yards out. He curled it over the wall and it cannoned off the crossbar.

Another golden chance fell for Barton as North was in on goal, his shot from the edge of the area went over the bar after being one on one with Hitchcock in the Brid goal.

The moment of controversy came 55 minutes in when Riches came out to meet a ball, but handled it outside of his area. The referee only gave a yellow card to the Swans ‘keeper, with the hosts wanting him sent off.

The Swans continued to look for the equalizer and they finally got it after 69 minutes. The ball fell to North in the area, who powered it past Hitchcock to score his second in as many games for the Swans.

Unfortunately for Barton the goal seemed to wake Brid up, with Chris Adams running in and slotting past Riches from a reasonably tight angle. Seconds after Barton had scored the Seasiders were back in front.

In an almost carbon copy of his first Adams grabbed his second seven minutes later. A fine finish from close range to put the game beyond doubt. The Swans introduced Marc Cooper to try and grab a second goal, but were hit on the counter by Adams and Brid.

With moments to spare there was time for an ex-Swan to get on the scoresheet. Tom Waudby turned Stephen Cooper and unleashed a rocket shot in to the bottom corner to round off the win for the Seasiders, and punish Barton for not being more clinical in the second half.
