It took just four minutes for the Swans to take the lead. Matt Plummer played a brilliant ball over the top and North controlled it with a fine touch, before slotting it past the goalkeeper to open the scoring.
Two minutes later Sam Riches pulled off a fine save from a Bottesford attacker before setting us on a counter. North was in again in a carbon copy move of his first goal, but this time his goal was ruled out for offside.
This move kept working for Barton, as they had a third chance with North in space, but this time his effort was skewed wide. But he didn’t have to wait long for his second goal. 20 minutes in North was in and side footed his shot past the keeper from close range to score his fifth of the season for the Swans.
The Swans were in control of the game, and Hinchliffe was looking sharp. Two fine chances in two minutes showed perhaps the Swans striker was getting back to his best. On the stroke of half time he finally broke his duck. He hit his shot low into the ground, it rolled past the keeper and went in off the post.
After 721 minutes without a goal Hinchliffe had his 19th goal of the season, and could have had more if not for an in form Bottesford goalkeeper keeping the score down. It was 3-0 at the break and Barton were well in control.
Five minutes into the second half and a corner wasn’t cleared properly. The ball fell to Walmsley, who smashed it past the keeper for his first goal for the club, and Barton’s fourth.
Noel Burdett, Hinchliffe and Walmsley all had further efforts to add a fifth, with the latter’s cannoning off the post from 25 yards out.
On 73 minutes Modest was introduced for his debut, and six minutes later he had a chance to score before the keeper closed it down and collected the ball. His next chance was a nice shot across the face of goal which went just wide.
However on 89 minutes he finally got his first goal. He ran onto a bouncing through ball and beat the keeper to the ball, tapping it around him and then tapping it in to an empty net to add the fifth and score his first goal for the club.
A resounding win for the Swans, and one which they were good value for.
