Barton Town Football Club are celebrating 25 years since the formation of the club in its current guise.

The club has a proud and rich history and we want to commemorate that as soon as the season gets underway.

Swans Chairman Mark Gregory commented on the anniversary: “I’ve been at the helm for four years now and I am happy to have been a part of the club’s proud history. I want to thank all the volunteers past and present that have kept the club running and long may that continue. I also want to thank the sponsors who have helped out over the years with their generosity and their support.”

Things are shaping up for the season to be a special one to celebrate the merging of the two Barton clubs 25 years ago.

The club was formed at the start of the 1995/96 season as a result of the amalgamation of the two longest established and most successful clubs in the North Lincolnshire town of Barton upon Humber, Barton Town FC and Barton Old Boys FC.

Since then the club has gone on from strength to strength, winning titles and cups in the Lincolnshire League, Winning the Central Midlands League Supreme Division in 2005/06, and gaining promotion to the Northern Counties East League in 2007 after some major ground developments, which included rotating the pitch 90 degrees and the installation of floodlights.

It was when Dave Anderson and Mally Parker joined in 2010 that things moved up a level. Five straight wins in April contributed to a fine run of form which saw the Swans achieve promotion in second place to the NCEL Premier Division, to date the highest level in the club’s history. After adapting to the league, the Swans nearly won promotion in 2013/14 after a 23 match unbeaten league run left them runners up to Brighouse Town.

The following years have been challenging, we have undergone a change of Chairman, flirted with relegation, earning a reprieve in the 2016/17 season and have since rebuilt and achieved stability once again, and looking to push on for the 2020/21 season.

There will be a few things to announce soon hopefully in regards to celebrating this special year.
