Academy Roundup
20th September 2022“Saturday saw the U8 team compete in our first league match of the campaign. After showing a fantastic display of reflection and respect by both teams to the late Queen, we then got down to our work in the local derby against Barton United. The players were fantastic all the way through the game, clinical finishing and composed whilst on the ball. We transitioned through the game so well moving from attacking and defending as one team unit, and to top it all off no goals conceded by our defence and keeper. Well done to our youngest Swans” – Paul Roberts, Manager.
“On Sunday our U9’s spent the day at the fantastic Bradley Development Centre in Grimsby. We was in League Cup knockout action. This very newly formed team are going from strength to strength, we competed in the group matches then onto the semi final with relative ease. Onto the final, it was a tight game that could have gone either way, we had the majority of the chances but it just didn’t drop. Onto the dreaded penalties to decide the winner, now it’s lottery time, to add more drama it was sudden death, it wasn’t to be unfortunately. So, so pleased and proud of my boys today not conceding a single goal all day, and to just miss out this way is hard. However, we dust down to go again next Sunday and then prepare for our next cup competition in October. Super performance, well done boys you made the club and myself so proud today.” – Paul Roberts, Manager.
Elsewhere in the Academy Simon Burnett’s Development Squad began their league season with a goalless draw away to Cleethorpes Town Under 18’s. While our Under 16’s side led by Sean Money, drew 3-3 with Crowle Colts Juniors. Our Under 10’s had a positive result too in their Barton derby.
