A fantastic day at the Louth tournament sees our walking football team enter a thrilling penalty shootout!

Barton Inclusive FC’s walking football team entered a tournament hosted by Louth Town. There were 12 teams in total, placed into two groups of six. The best placed four teams from each group would then qualify for the quarter final. BIFC started slowly, narrowly losing their first two games. BIFC then grew into the games, confidence was high resulting in three points in the third game. This was an ‘amazing’ win, said captain Mark Bartup. With some great defending and two wonderful saves by the BIFC keeper, the win was secured. The final group game ended in a draw. This saw BIFC finish third in their group, extending their time in the tournament. Captain Mark said he was ‘so proud’ of the team. The quarter final was very tight, with BIFC having chances to win the game however it ended 0-0. BIFC, after enjoying such a brilliant day, lost the penalty shootout. After the game, Mark spoke to us and said: “I am so proud of all the players, we gave it our best but most importantly we enjoyed the day, met new people and had fun. A great shout out must go to Louth Town for organising this event which was run extremely well. Also funds were raised for a fantastic charity in Cancer Research. We will be back next year to hopefully go one step further.” Club Chairwoman Sophie Bartup added: “I am so pleased our walking football team had such a memorable day. We are committed to providing football for all, and days like today, show how important provision is for everyone.”
