A bright but very breezy morning welcomed us at Messingham Juniors for our Under 16 Divisional Trophy match.

The pitch was extremely uneven and patched up but the game went ahead and kicked off at 11am.

Messingham started the stronger and had the very strong wind behind them and took control of the game and we struggled to get out of our half for most of the half but coupled with misplaced passing and not looking after the ball when we had possession contributed to our down fall and the 3-0 score line at halftime to them was what they deserved.

The 2nd half started and the wind did die down a small bit but we started to grow in confidence and peppered their goal and if it wasn’t from some heroics from the Messingham goal keeper the game would have been closer.

We did however get a goal which at the time is what we deserved to make it 3-1 through Jacob Cox and a goal disallowed for offside by their substitute player linesman which was dubious would have made for a far better result for us I am sure of it.

Messingham then started controlling the game again and coped better with the high winds and started creating chances themselves but we hung in and even went to 3 at the back to try and push to get back in but their defence held out and the game finished Messingham Juniors 3 – Barton Town 1

We now turn our attention back to league action as we travel to Scotter Saints on Sunday 16th October kick off 11.00am
