Barton Town Under 8’s/9’s boss Paul Roberts rounds up his team’s performances after another encouraging weekend of footballing action.

Under 8’s

On Saturday morning the Under 8’s travelled to Gainsborough Trinity for a very early start. The players were fantastic all morning, big smiles and delivered a super performance. The level of skills showed were something else, we are challenging the players more and more each week and they are taking it onboard and bringing it into the matches. The ball was getting played through all positions and players including the keeper at pace and accurately, EVERY single player played their part in the performance and was able to leave their impact on the game. Saturdays squad was; Cole Woodford (GK) Charlie Burton (DF) Lilah Cox (LW) Eli Crosby (RW) Jac Roberts (ST) Noah Richardson, Miguel De Freitas and Cole Foster were the first changes.

Manager’s player of the Match; Lilah Cox, outstanding. Lilah not only consistently delivers her role on the pitch but she is an absolute dream to train. She listens so carefully and the level of skill Lilah possesses is something else, well done Lilah. Parent’s player of the Match; Charlie Burton, by unanimous decision from the parents, absolutely solid in his defensive role, drove forward with the ball so well and played some clinical passes to assist his teammates, well done Charlie. Well done team another fantastic Saturday morning learning and expressing.

Under 9’s

On Sunday the U9’s were competing at the Bradley Development Centre in the first round of the League Cup. We played five games against some very competitive, very physical and very skilled teams we had not faced before. We came out with a fantastic set of results that will set us up nicely ready for round two in November. I keep saying this each week but I am incredibly proud of this set of players they just keep raising the bar and when we knew it would be a much tougher Sunday afternoon they delivered. Some shouts outs, Harry, on the right wing, epic, the speed up and down the wing was fantastic. Alfie showed great strength in midfield with a high work rate and really got stuck into his challenges. Reggie, centre mid, strong, skill full and commanding, Reggie is back after not feeling it over the last few weeks. Todays Squad; Tommy Cox (GK) Seb Eggleton (CB) Olly Brown (CB) Harry Hatcliffe (RW) Reggie Cole (CM) Alfie Goodley (LW) Oakley Deakins (ST) Jac Roberts (ST) Callum Massey (RW) Oscar Barnes (LW) Jacob Thompson (CM). Well done all players a fantastic afternoon’s work.
