Barton Town were twice pegged back on the road at Golcar United to bring home a hard-earned point.

In a pulsating game, Sam Cable and Henry Parr both scored their first goals for the club. A goal in either half which were cancelled out by Daniel Naidole’s brace for the home side.

Cable made his first start for the club, in place of the suspended Tom Waudby. Kian Salter and Nathan Jarman returned to the bench while Tom Davie made his 50th Barton Town appearance.

The Swans almost made the perfect start, when after just three minutes a corner was played in and Taron Hare headed it towards goal. The goalkeeper spilled it and Cable and Hinchliffe attempted to get it over the line. The goalkeeper somehow recovered the ball to keep out the Swans.

An end to end first half which saw plenty of action, but not much in the way of gilt-edged chances. 25 minutes in and Golcar strike the post, before the Barton defence cleared it. It was the Swans however creating the majority of the chances.

Harrison Coley teed up Craig King on the half-hour mark on the edge of the box. The midfielder’s first time curling strike was just the wrong side of the post. Five minutes later a fine run from Scott Matthews resulted in a cross. Hinchliffe’s glancing header to the near post went just wide. The Swans were ahead moments later.

A fantastic cross over from Will Waudby saw Hinchliffe head it back across the face of goal to Cable. He headed it past the ‘keeper to open his Barton Town account on his first start. A well-worked finish.

It took Golcar around 90 seconds to equalise, as a corner was floated in and Naidole was given a free header. The towering striker headed it past Musselwhite to put the hosts back on level terms.

A slight injury knock to King resulted in him being brought off before the break, with Jack Tanser replacing him.

A couple of minutes after the break Golcar almost took the lead had it not been for an excellent save from Musselwhite. Barton managed to get the ball in the net when Tom Davie’s flick on was slotted in by Cable at the back post. However it was ruled out for an offside in the buildup.

Henry Parr was introduced with 20 minutes to go, with Cable coming off. Naidole almost had a second goal but his turn and shot went sailing over the bar. Waudby then nearly gave Barton the lead with his shot from the right curling just wide.

Swans boss Jarman brought himself on to try and influence the game but it was another substitute who put Barton in front. A Hare long throw wasn’t dealt with by the hosts, and Davie rifled a strike to the back post which was bundled in by Parr. A first goal for the youngster.

It took Golcar a little longer to equalise, but again they capitalised on Barton having just scored. Just four minutes later Golcar were back level. A great through ball was met by a nice touch from Naidole. He composed himself and struck past Musselwhite for his and Golcar’s second of the afternoon.

There was time for one more chance as Jarman volleyed from distance. It was a sweetly struck shot but a Golcar defender managed to block it. The game ended 2-2 and a share of the points for the Swans.
