Sam Cable managed to muscle his way onto the ball and bear down on goal, but Dylan Parkin was equal to it and pulled off an excellent save.

A Maltby free kick was headed just wide from a free header before the visitors were reduced to ten men. An off the ball incident saw Danny White given a red card by the referee.

Moments later the ball was played into the path of Hinchliffe who rounded Parkin but an excellent last ditch tackle denied the Swans striker.

The Swans were knocking on the door, but ten minutes before the break, they were ahead. A ball in from the left fell to Cable on the edge of the area. His excellent volley powered the ball past Parkin for his third Barton goal.

He almost had his second when Tom Waudby squared the ball to the back post but Cable couldn’t quite reach it.

The Waudby brothers linked up with Will crossing to Tom, but Parkin again saving Maltby with an excellent catch. The Swans were then made to pay for those missed chances. A free kick into the back post was prodded in by Alex Haydock to level the score going into the break.

The second half saw Barton dominate, Sam Cable’s first time shot went just over before Josh Lacey’s curling shot almost caught out Parkin, who managed to tip it over.

On the hour mark however Tom Waudby headed the ball at the back post. It went across the face of goal and in off the post.

Scott Matthews struck a powerful effort which stung the palms of Parkin, before Cable was played in. His shot was saved by Parkin before the rebound was tucked in by Ben Hinchliffe.

Six minutes later Mitchell Levi-Lewis played an excellent through ball which found Tom Waudby in space and one on one. He struck past Parkin for his second of the game and Barton’s fourth.

A comfortable win and a welcome return to winning ways, as Barton end the year with three points.
