There was a home debut for Brett Agnew, replacing Sam Cable in the starting lineup. The Swans were boosted by the returns of Josh Lacey, Tom Davie and Craig King from their respective injuries.

After a slow start to the game the chances started to come thick and fast. Will Waudby burst down the left and squared the ball to Agnew who was waiting in the area. His effort was blocked by a defender and the rebound fell to Coley. His effort was then blocked too in some excellent defending from the visitors.

20 minutes in and a cleared ball falls to the Hemsworth winger from distance. He spotted Musselwhite off his line and his first time effort wasn’t too far wide of the post. The Swans ‘keeper was then forced into an excellent save to deny Hemsworth from close range.

Scott Matthews sent over and excellent diagonal ball to Tom Waudby on the right. He volleyed the ball towards goal and Hinchliffe was inches away from making contact and putting the Swans ahead.

Seconds after the restart Matthews sent in a cross to Tom Waudby waiting at the back post. But his header was just over the bar. Matthews was again involved in an attack which this time led to the opener.

He sent a free kick into the area which was deflected and fell to Papprill at the back post. He struck from six yards out to roll the ball into the back of the net for his first goal in a Barton shirt.

The Swans started to take control once the goal had gone in. Tom Waudby’s shot from distance was only just wide.

Hemsworth did have more chances to score however, with some neat buildup play resulting in a shot which Musselwhite did fantastically well to save.

This save was vital, as soon after the Swans were two up. Cable, introduced in place of Agnew, struck towards goal and Hinchliffe’s diving header put the ball in the back of the net to add to the lead.

A few minutes later Cable got his goal, with Will Waudby breaking through, and sliding the ball through to the striker. He steadied himself and struck low under the Hemsworth keeper to give Barton a three goal lead.

In stoppage time Hemsworth pulled one back as Tom Davie put the ball into his own net but it was nothing more than a consolation goal. The Swans secured the three points and put in an excellent display.
