Under 8’s and 9’s back in action and working hard
30th January 2023Reports by Paul Roberts
Both the Under 8’s and Under 9’s returned to action this weekend. Paul Roberts recounts the weekend’s action.
Under 8’s
We were greeted by a rare sunny and mild Saturday morning as the Under 8’s travelled to Caistor to take on their U9 team. A very tight game in the first period, we had most of the possession and dominated the play but Caistor stood strong for 1st half. After the break we switched things around a bit to try and mix things up and break through. Our possession continued to grow and chance after chance was created, we were then rewarded for our work rate, skill and determination from the lads with a breakthrough from our no.10. This then culminated into some real unselfish play from Charlie who drove forward from the back setting up with a pin perfect pass for another goal. Well done U8’s stuck at it, worked hard and the hard work then paid off. MoM – Noah Richmond, Parents MoM – Charlie Burton.
Squad; Cole Woodford (GK), Eli Crosby CB, Charlie Burton CB, Oakley Todd CM, Noah Richmond LW, Cole Foster RW, Jac Roberts ST, Noah Richardson.
Under 9’s
The Under 9’s travelled to Healing on Sunday afternoon, conditions were perfect for football, other than the pitch was uneven and the balls were bobbling about everywhere, which made it incredibly difficult to get the ball down, under control and play passing football. The game was so close, it went right to the wire and could have gone either way. We played some lovely football in places, created and created opportunities throughout the game. We battled hard and were rewarded for our determination with some nice goals. Well done 9’s I’m so pleased with the way you stuck at it and kept working throughout.
Man of the Match was our no.10 Jac Roberts, worked hard, got battered about a bit, came back with a nice goal and nicked us a couple of free kicks around the box, well done Jac.
Squad; Tommy Cox GK, Seb Eggleton CB, Buddy Hillary CB, Oakley Deakins LW, Kian Lally CM, Reggie Cole RW, Jac Roberts ST, Olly Brown, Callum Massey, Jacob Thompson, Harry Hatcliffe.
