Barton Town are delighted to announce the signing of Gary Nimmo. The striker will join the Reserves side from fellow Lincs League team Keelby United.

Nimmo is an accomplished goal-scorer at Lincs League level, and joins Stef Wolkowski’s side to add some real firepower. This season he’s scored 15 in 19 appearances for Keelby.

He has a stellar goalscoring record having played for the likes of Immingham Town, Lincoln Moorlands Railway, and Keelby over the years. He’s scored 111 goals in 169 appearances since 2016 in the Lincs League, with 97 assists, and joins the Swans at the best possible time.

The Reserves are needing an experienced goal-scorer to put away the chances being created. In Nimmo the Swans have just the man.

Nimmo commented on the difficult decision to move, saying: “It’s probably the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in leaving Keelby but it’s the right one for me. Stef’s been on my case for a while now, Barton have a cracking setup and a great group of lads.

“Hopefully I can add some experience to the side and maybe even help a few of the young lads kick on. I might be 41 but I’m still as hungry as ever and there’s still plenty of goals left to score.”

Swans Reserves boss Wolkowski commented: “We spoke to Nimmo at the start of the season and we understood the reasons for him staying at Keelby. We’ve kept in touch all season and the opportunity has come to bring him to Barton.

“His goal per game ratio is scary, his experience at this level is something you embrace and he’s someone who can really support the young lads coming through as well.

“He’s completely different to what we have now up top; but what he does do is take pressure off some trying to play that way. It’s a very big signing for us.

“He’s still got that hunger, desire and drive which is infectious and we are really looking forward to seeing him in Barton blue.”

Pending Lincs League approval, Gary will be in the squad tomorrow to face his former side Immingham Town.

Welcome to Barton, Gary!
