Under 10’s in battle with App Frod

27th February 2023 Off By bartontown

On a cold morning Barton played a tough match against a talented App Frod side, the hailstones were coming down but we were determined to try and get a win.

This was our first chance to see Jake, our new signing, and what a start he had he was very close to scoring in the first five minutes,  other chances came from Kyle, Tomis, Harry and Patrick.

This was a close game but we were probably having the best of the first half creating more chances plus we were the more physical side, Joseph in goal had to be alert to any threat but did not really have any difficult saves to make.

As the whistle went for the end of the first half the weather was slowly improving and we were confident that we could get something from this match.

The second half kicked off and App Frod raised their game and managed to scramble a goal in the box.

Heads did not drop and Patrick who normally plays in defence managed to pull a goal back, great stuff from Patrick today showed a different side to his game. He’s never been shy of a tackle but he showed some skill and a cool finish in front of goal.

We were still playing well and again Kyle was having his usual game, a very important player for us this season.

We managed to create four more chances in the second half from Oakley, Rory and Kyle.

This was a 50/50 game and very late on we got a very good goal from Harry our top goal scorer this season who only gets great goals, not sure if he’s scored in the box this season.

So as the game finished a close but worthwhile win.

The toughest decision of the day was for the manager to choose man of the match because everyone had a good game it’s nice to see players like Harvey improve each week and a very impressive 1st game from Jake.

Player player went to Harry.

Parents player went to Kyle.

Managers player went to Patrick.
