Battling Swans defeated by last-minute Penistone goal

A last-gasp Ryan Johnson goal sealed the win for Penistone Church against a Swans side who fought but couldn’t piece together the final ball. After an end to end game throughout, Penistone dug deep and Johnson’s header secured the three points.

Ryan Musselwhite returned from suspension to replace Charlie Dixon in goal, while Tom Waudby served the final game of his three match ban. Nathan Hotte, Fraser Papprill and Ben Hinchliffe all missed the game through injury.
An early scare for the Swans when Antony Brown fired narrowly over from distance. While the Swans enjoyed plenty of possession, they couldn’t find the final pass, and a resolute Penistone side held the Swans out.
With just five minutes left in the game both sides were turning the screw looking to find a winner. Brown was played in and an excellent double save from Ryan Musselwhite denied the striker. However the hosts dug deep and found the winner.
In second half stoppage time, A cross from Jack Lenthall was met by the head of Ryan Johnson who headed past Musselwhite to secure a big win for the hosts, and the Swans left empty handed.
