Barton Town secured their second comeback win in three days as the Swans defeated Eccleshill United at the Mitton Group Stadium.

A much depleted Swans side had to withstand a lot of Eccleshill pressure in the first half, before Devonte Newman-Morton put the hosts ahead just after the hour mark. A penalty 20 minutes from time saw Harrison Coley equalize before Kian Salter scored a wondergoal five minutes from time to secure a big win.

Matt Clayton made his first start for the first team having impressed on Saturday, coming in for the injured Scott Matthews. With six first team players missing, Reserve players Kian Salter and Kadey Phillips were drafted in to bolster the Swans bench.

There was an early chance for the Swans with Josh Lacey forcing an excellent save out of Ed Wilczynski. Perhaps the best chance of the half and certainly the only clear cut effort for the Swans.

The hosts had the stronger first half, with Newman-Morton being the main dangerman for the Eagles. 18 minutes in and the strong striker put the ball narrowly wide the hosts, with the Swans holding strong.

Just after the half hour mark Luke Sidaway was next to try taking the lead. He struck just wide before Newman-Morton ran through on goal. He was one on one with Ryan Musselwhite, lobbing the ball over the Swans ‘keeper, but thankfully for Barton it rolled just wide of the goal.

The second half was a much different story for the Swans, who came out fighting. The Eccleshill defence had to be alert when Sam Cable struck the ball at Wilczynski before Henry Parr’s follow-up was blocked by a defender and cleared.

Tom Waudby was next to test the home goalkeeper, with Wilczynski pulling off a fantastic stop to deny the Swans winger.

Arguably against the run of play Eccleshill took the lead, which was reward for their pressure in the first half. Newman-Morton with a neat finish to put the hosts ahead.

Kadey Phillips was introduced from the bench, replacing Henry Cook for his first appearance in the first team this season. Having made a few cameo appearances at the end of last season.

Moments later the Swans were awarded a penalty when Parr was fouled in the area. Harrison Coley stepped up and slotted it to his left, sending Wilczynski the wrong way.

Tom Waudby then shot from around 30 yards out, his effort smashing the crossbar and being cleared as the Swans hunted a winner.

Kian Salter was introduced soon after, replacing Henry Parr. The Barton-born winger scored what proved to be the winner when he received the ball on the edge of the area, before curling it into the top corner to score only his second goal for the first team and seal an important win for the Swans.

There were ugly scenes after the final whistle as Newman-Morton clashed with a Swans player, the referee showing him a red card.
