The Swans started the brighter side, putting pressure on Golcar, but it was the visitors that had the first meaningful chance of the game. Daniel Naidole was in on goal down the left, but a good save from Ryan Musselwhite denied the visitors.
Salter had the Swans first real chance after 20 minutes when he got the ball down the left, cut into the area, but his shot was blocked and out for a corner. Barton would soon take the lead however.
Harrison Coley with some neat footwork played in Tom Waudby, who strode into the area before powering the ball low into the bottom corner to score his 20th of the season, making it his highest scoring season to date.
The Swans were forced into an early change when Danny North pulled up with a hamstring issue. He was replaced by Henry Parr.
Barton were looking for another goal, with Coley striking just over the bar. However the second goal did come shortly before the break. Tom Waudby was played in and tried to lift the ball over the ‘keeper, who blocked well. Waudby got to the rebound and crossed in to Salter, who headed in his second goal of the season and the first home goal for the hometown player.
The second half was played with the same frenetic energy, with Barton looking to add to the lead and Golcar looking to get back into it.
20 minutes from time Henry Parr was played in, speeding down the left and beating the goalkeeper with his effort, which a defender managed to clear off the line. Parr’s only goal of the season came in the reverse fixture at Golcar.
Swans boss Nathan Jarman brought himself on for Salter with 15 minutes to go, and to add some strength up front.
Tom Waudby knew his next goal would be his 75th, and throughout the second half he was trying to get it. He was through on goal before his shot was deflected out for a corner with ten minutes left.
It was nearly brother Will Waudby who scored Barton’s third. When an excellent free kick from 30 yards out hit the roof of the net, nearly curling and dipping in.
In second half stoppage time Barton got their third. A loose back pass was intercepted by Jarman, he rounded the keeper and squared it to Tom Waudby. He tapped it in for his 21st of the season, and his 75th goal for the club.
Seconds later Golcar managed to pull one back when Slater Barkham-Barnes squeezed the ball in from a corner.
The Swans sealed the win in our penultimate game of the season, with only Golcar’s neighbours Emley coming to the Easy Buy Stadium next Tuesday to round out the season.
