Amy Blinkhorn named new Women’s Team Manager
19th May 2023Barton Town are pleased to announce that the manager of our new women’s team will be Amy Blinkhorn!
Amy comes with an array of experience, with qualifications in football, futsal, and coaching footballers with a disability, as well as coaching experience with different age groups from Under 7’s to adults within inclusive football clubs on a volunteer basis.
Amy is currently working for Tigers Trust delivering an employability programme across Hull and East Riding: supporting adults and young people to reach their potential in finding employment, education or training. Part of this role entails facilitating sessions that promote positive mental health and well-being through playing football.
Amy started out playing in a boys team at Under 8’s in Doncaster, she then joined her first girls team before going to Hull Centre of Excellence. Amy’s first adult team was Sheffield Wednesday and then Doncaster Rovers Belles before going to the University of Lincoln where she played for a local Sunday league team and for the University team. After University Amy went on to play for Hull City Ladies for a season before joining Lincoln City Women where she played for four years.
Amy says about her new management role: “I now find myself ready for a new challenge in the coaching world and I am thrilled to be involved in the creation of Barton Town FC’s Women’s team.
“I am excited to bring my experience and knowledge around what a successful team looks like by creating the best environment for the development of players. I look forward to being part of the growth of women’s football in North Lincolnshire and to become Barton Town FC’s first female Manager.”
If you are interested in joining our new women’s team, we are holding an open trial game on Wednesday 7 June at Baysgarth School from 8pm-9pm.
