Swans sign Jock Curran from Wakefield AFC
18th August 2023Barton Town are delighted to announce the signing of Jock Curran from Wakefield AFC. The talented midfielder joins the club to bolster our options in the middle of the park.
Jock, 22, started out at Doncaster Rovers and was at Grimsby Town before signing for Cleethorpes Town in 2020. Since then he’s played for Lincoln United, Spalding United, Wakefield AFC, as well as a brief stint at Hemsworth Miners Welfare last season. He actually played against the Swans in a 3-1 win for Barton in January over the Miners.
He’s the son of former Sheffield Wednesday player Terry Curran, and joins hoping to make his debut in tomorrow’s away trip to Thackley.
Swans boss Nathan Jarman commented: “Jock is well known to both me and Danny. We were together at Lincoln United when he came straight from Academy football at Grimsby Town. He’s got a great pedigree, he’s a good size and he’s technically very good. We are looking forward to having him in. He’s a centre midfielder who can do both the defensive and attacking aspects of the game. Again like Josh, he’s not here to make the numbers up. He wants to play, to contribute, and stay in the team. He will get an opportunity and then it’s up to him to stay in.”
Welcome to the Swans, Jock!
