Swans cruise to 4-0 win over Bottesford Town

Barton Town defeated local neighbours Bottesford Town in a perfect response to three successive defeats. A Tom Waudby double and a clean sheet the highlights for the Swans.

Swans boss Nathan Jarman changed the formation, with the Swans playing 3-5-2. In terms of personnel there was one change, with Henry Cook coming in and Will Waudby dropping to the bench. Craig King, Danny North and Josh Lacey were all unavailable with Tom Davie out injured.

In a complete contrast to Saturday, when Barton couldn’t finish chances, it took just four minutes for the Swans to find the net against Bottesford. Cook with some excellent work to win the ball in midfield, he played it to Henry Parr who in turn found Tom Waudby on the left. He ran into the area and powered his shot past Jordan Quibell to put Barton ahead, a lead they never surrendered.

Moments later Waudby turned provider when he crossed it for Scott Matthews, waiting on the edge of the area. He didn’t quite connect with the ball and his volley was over the bar.

After a blistering opening ten minutes, the game settled and neither side could take charge. After half an hour Bottesford had their best chance of the game when a ball in from the left resulted in a shot. The shot was deflected off Ryan Musselwhite onto the post and then back into the grateful hands of the Swans ‘keeper.

Waudby had a couple of headers from crosses by Matthews and Parr, both resulting in saves by Quibell. Just before the half time break, a high ball was challenged between Waudby and Quibell. The Swans attacker won the ball and tapped it into an empty net. The referee however blew for an apparent foul on the goalkeeper.

Will Waudby was introduced soon after the break, replacing Parr, with the Swans soon doubling their lead.

On the hour mark, Greaves threw the ball to Matthews. He swung in a pinpoint cross which met the head of Fraser Papprill. His looping header beat Quibell to double the Swans’ lead.

The Swans were comfortable, and on 77 minutes it was three. Papprill with some pace to win the ball and playing in Tom Waudby. He slotted the ball into the bottom corner for his second goal of the night.

Elliott Vasalo was introduced from the bench and secured his first goal for the Swans thanks to some selfless play. Tom Waudby ran onto a loose ball and closed in on goal. He spotted Vasalo unmarked in the area so squared it to the Swans striker. He tapped into an empty net to round off an excellent night for the Swans.
