There were three changes to the side which lost heavily to Silsden in midweek. Nathan Hotte was out injured while Will Waudby and Harrison Coley dropped to the bench. Josh Smaller, Josh Lacey and Henry Cook replacing them in the side. New signing James Playford was on the bench.

Golcar had the better of the early opportunities, with Ryan Musselwhite being forced into an excellent double save before the third attempt was hit over the bar.

On the quarter-hour mark Tom Waudby sprung the offside trap, he ran onto the ball before teeing up Sam Cable. The Swans striker struck first time but his effort bounced back off the post. This would be the closest Barton came to scoring.

Midway through the half Buddy Cox was played in but Musselwhite again came to the rescue, pulling off another excellent save.

There’d been a few feisty challenges throughout the half, Golcar’s Leon Henry was booked for a high challenge on Tom Waudby. Henry Cook was booked for sliding in late on a Golcar attacker.

Soon after the break Scott Matthews swung a cross in from the left which found Cable in the area, but his effort was into the side netting.

Another excellent Swans chance came 66 minutes in when a cross found Tom Waudby free on the edge of the box. His sweet volley however was straight at the goalkeeper who caught the ball.

15 minutes from the end the Swans had a corner, Golcar cleared their lines and then picked the pocket of the Barton defender. Running in on goal Daniel Naidole struck left-footed into the bottom right corner.

A triple substitution came ten minutes before time, with Playford coming on for his debut. The midfielder went on a mazing run from the half way line, beating a couple of defenders, before being tackled on the edge of the box.

Moments later Golcar were given a penalty when the Golcar attacker tripped over a standing leg. No complaints from the Swans. The spot kick hit the post and was cleared.

The Swans piled on the pressure in the dying minutes. Corner after corner came in but to no avail, the Swans left empty handed and Golcar took home the points.
