Waudby’s secure home win over Frickley Athletic for the Swans

Barton Town secured a convincing home win over Frickley Athletic thanks to a Tom Waudby hat-trick and a Will Waudby wonderstrike.
The hosts took the lead through Luke Walker after ten minutes before Tom and Will scored one apiece to put Barton ahead at the break. Two further second half goals from Tom secured the win.

There were two changes from the side that drew at Handsworth in midweek. Josh Lacey and Iwan Heeley came in for Henry Cook and Jack Tanser.
The visitors started the stronger side, and would have taken the lead earlier if it wasn’t for Josh Smaller clearing the ball off the line from a Frickley free kick which was flicked on. However that opening goal came soon after.
Just ten minutes into the game, the Swans defence made a mistake, and gifted Frickley an early Christmas present, with Luke Walker played in. He rounded Ryan Musselwhite and tapped it into an empty net to give the visitors the lead.
The goal, and the way it was conceded, seemed to spur the Swans on and Barton were soon in the ascendancy.
Midway through the first half, Clark Greaves launched a long throw into the area which was flicked on into the path of Tom Waudby. With his back to goal he struck the ball sweetly into the bottom right corner to put Barton level.
On the half hour mark, it was Tom’s brother Will who stole the limelight. A corner was played in and headed away by a Frickley defender. It fell to Will 30 yards out, he took a touch and launched a striker which dipped just perfectly to sail into the back of the net in off the bar.
Five minutes before the break Greaves was next to test the Frickley ‘keeper with a quality strike which was just over the bar.
The second half saw the Swans dominate, and score again on the hour mark. Tom Waudby received the ball in the area, and slotted low under the keeper into the bottom left corner for his 20th goal of the season.
With 15 minutes to go, Frickley conceded a penalty by fouling Tom Waudby in the area. He dusted himself off and slotted the spot kick home to secure his third hat-trick of the season.
It was almost five when Craig King shot from distance and it cannoned back off the crossbar and cleared.
Another win for Barton, and seven points from nine for Swans boss Danny North in another excellent performance, with the goal conceded the only blip on an otherwise perfect day for the Swans.
