The first ten minutes saw Tom Waudby have two decent chances, with Taron Hare swinging in a cross which Waudby met with a trademark header, but it went over the bar.

Ten minutes later and Tom Waudby was played in one on one. Charlie Dixon’s goal kick was over the defenders and Waudby ran in. The Yorkshire ’keeper pulled off an excellent save to deny the Swans.

In first half stoppage time both sides had chances to score. The Yorkshire attacker had a sweetly struck volley blocked by the Swans defence. Meanwhile at the other end Tom Davie’s header was cleared off the line in the last action of the half.

The second half was dominated by the Swans, with Yorkshire looking to soak up the pressure and counter attack. Davie had another decent effort but his volley went wide of the mark.

Just after the hour mark Tom Waudby teed up Hinchliffe, but an excellent tackle from the Yorkshire defender denied the striker.

With 15 minutes to go, Swans boss Nathan Jarman brought himself on for Davie. Jarman made himself a nuisance in the Yorkshire defence almost instantly when a corner was headed just wide by the Swans striker.

The final ten minutes were all Barton, who were piling on the pressure but couldn’t get the ball in. In second half stoppage time, Tom Waudby crossed the ball in, it was headed across goal by Jarman, and Hinchliffe was on hand to tap it into the back of the net to mark his 100th appearance for the club with his 50th goal.

The Swans secured the win to remain top of the league, against a team whose league position doesn’t tell the whole story. A hard-fought win for Barton Town.
