Academy Roundup – Positive Results All Round

“Saturday morning’s opposition for our Under 8’s team was Brigg Town. A well organised team that also challenged us physically. Super proud of my guys though as we quickly got down to our work and broke down our opponents, we did this by putting into practice everything we have been learning in our training sessions. It was also extremely pleasing to see that at least one of our goals every single player on the pitch on our team touched the ball before finally our striker slotted it into the goal. Super game little Swans.” – Paul Roberts, Manager

“An awful uneven bobbly pitch greeted us with cut cans and plastic bottles and ring pulls everywhere deemed a bit dangerous but myself and Darren removed what we could but weather was good and the game got under way on time albeit with again for 2nd match running a parent referee Cliff Robinson who I would like to thank for stepping in with short notice.
“Our form from the last outing where we drew 3-3 at home against Crowle the week before a game we should have won given the chances we had the same continued again Bottesford Town Colts with chance after chance during a first half we dominated and their goal came from a standard back pass played back to our goal keeper Luca Marosi who when he went to clear the ball bobbled over his leg and into the goal so the half ended 1-0
“The 2nd half started after making one or two changes and chances started coming again with Bottesford hardly having the ball never mind creating a chance. The difference between the last match and the first half of this was we started taking chances with Harvey Robinson equalising then adding his 2nd and then his hat-trick came very quickly thanks to some dominating play by our midfield especially by Mason Woodford playing wide right who tormented their left back all match.
“Our 4th came from Max Mason again after some good play this time down our left side linking well with our energetic new signing Joe Reece who was again everywhere supporting the forward players and covering at the back as required.
“The chances carried on coming throughout the game and really the game should have been out of sight by halftime but out first win is now on the board and our attention and I hope confidence now turns to top of the league Park Tigers at home this coming Sunday 02.10.22 kick off at 10.30am.” – Sean Money, Manager.

“Sunday afternoon found us travelling to Grimsby to play Discoveries FC, this team just keeps amazing me with what they are delivering week in week out. Consistency with our performances is so impressive. The game was a tough one against a Discoveries team with a lot ability, we matched them physically, played our own game and produced some top finishing. Well done team – Paul Roberts, Manager “
Development Squad
“The lads were desperate to win after dominating Cleethorpes last week and only managing a point somehow but then delivered yesterday. The two most pleasing things about yesterday were the performance and the bus ride home. The performance- we dominated. The lads turned the screw second half with goals from David Finley and Cole Salter. The bus ride home – After a well deserved KFC stop, The bus ride home was unreal, 1 hour 15 mins of them singing at the top of their voices, showing how together they are as a squad which for me is paramount.” – Simon Burnett, Manager.
