Paul Roberts recounts his Under 8’s and under 9’s sides’ games from the weekend.

Under 8’s

Our U8’s travelled to Humberston FC on Saturday morning, pitches are always going to be difficult this time a year and with all the rainfall we have had recently this only adds to the mud and longer grass, so key bit is how you adapt and over come the conditions.

Boy these guys did that, we are transitioning to 7v7 football in friendly games and this is only our second game in this format so the players are learning so much. A very very solid and composed display, relaxed, comfortable on and off the ball and commanding.

We saw some lovely drives out from the back with ball at feet, some quick pressing link ups and some outstanding finishing. Very strong young swans, a very exiting brand of football we are playing and expressing recently.

Swan of the Match, goes to Cole Foster, skills, strength, confidence working hard for his team gets him the award today. Parents’ MoM goes to Lilah Cox, her consistent performances and versatility through different positions earns her the parents award yet again.

Match day Squad; Cole Woodford (GK), Charlie Burton (CB), Lilah Cox (CB), Cole Foster (RW), Kevin (LW), Eli Crosby (CM), Jac Roberts (ST)..Noah Richardson (LW).

Well done all….

Under 9’s

This was our penultimate home league game of this year, similar conditions to Saturday so digging in deep was required by the lads. We spoke pre-match about working hard and grafting individually and for the team. We know the force we are going forward but it is so important every player is strong and not just relying on others to win the ball back.

So pleasing to see the boys listen well and put all this into action. Very commanding and confident afternoon’s football we saw some fantastic skills and link ups and clinical finishing.

Swan of the Match goes to Alfie Goodley, by far the muddiest player on the pitch which relates to the work rate he put in, proper grafted in the centre of the park and pitched in with a couple of well battled goals.

Match day Squad; Tommy Cox (GK), Seb Eggleton (CB), Eli Crosby (CB), Oakley Deakins (LW), Harry Hatcliffe (RW), Reggie Cole (CM), Jac Roberts (ST)..Alfie Goodley, Callum Massey, Oscar Barnes, Jacob Thompson.

Again another massive well done.
