Scott Matthews returns for the 2023/24 season

28th June 2023 Off By bartontown

Barton Town are delighted to announce that Scott Matthews has committed to the club for the 2023/24 season.

Now one of the club’s longest serving players, Scott signed in 2020 having been brought to the club by Rob Watson. He has since made 87 appearances for the Swans, scoring six goals. Most of those have been through free kicks.

Having played for Lincoln United, Grantham Town, Belper Town, and Brigg Town and Winterton Rangers in the past, Scott has made Barton Town his home over the last three years.

An attacking full back who can also play centre-half, Scott is a thorn in the side of defenders with his speed and crosses, and is just as good at stopping attackers at the other end.

Scott commented on returning: “I can’t wait to get going, this will be my 4th season with the club. I’ve loved every minute here playing for the gaffer and Northy, we’ve got a great group of lads and I’m looking forward to pushing up the league which is where we should be. Up the Swans!”

Swans Assistant Danny North on Scott’s return: “Happy to get Scott signed again despite interest from elsewhere. Very experienced at this level despite only being 29. Had a good season up until his injury which ruled him out for the rest of it. Expecting big things from him this year.”

Welcome back to the Swans, Scott!
