Swans raise £2500 for Once Upon a Smile Foundation

There was a bumper crowd at the Easy Buy Stadium on Saturday as the Hull City Legends team played a team of celebrities in aid of the Once Upon a Smile Foundation.

The game was played in the spirit of charity, and with a crowd of 225 at Barton, the event was a roaring success. We’re proud to announce that we raised £2500 for the Once Upon a Smile Foundation.

The Hull City side was filled with players from the past including Dean Windass, Justin Whittle, Adam Bolder and Gav Kelly. While the celebrities team included Cel Spellman of Radio One, Nico Mirallegro of Hollyoaks, and Our Girl’s Simon Lennon.

Before the game there was a minutes’ applause for former Hull City captain and ex-Tigers regular Pete Skipper, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Hull’s legends side was awarded an early penalty to give them an early lead. Dean Windass coolly stepped up and with a neat finish gave the Tigers the lead.

The celebs then had the ball in the net a few minutes later but it was ruled out for offside, keeping the score at 1-0.

The OUAS side looked good in front of goal, with Spellman playing some good football. However it was the Tigers who would score the next goal. Another penalty was awarded to the Tigers with Windass stepping up and again slotting past the keeper for 2-0.

Two early goals in the second half for both sides made the score 3-1 to the Tigers. Before the celeb side added a second midway through the second half to set up a close finish.

The referee blew for full time just as the celeb side were attacking, and the final score was 3-2 to the Tigers. The scoreline wasn’t important however, as charity was the real winner with £2500 raised for the Once Upon a Smile foundation.
