On a windy and blustery day in Silsden, both sides had to play in dire conditions, which included a strong wind from kick off. The Swans adapted to the conditions best and it didn’t take them long to take the lead.

A nice bit of play from Waide Fairhurst on the wing saw him cross for Richardson, whose first time shot rolled into the bottom corner for his second goal of the season.

Quarter of an hour in and Swans captain Craig Disley went down, appearing to have injured his knee. He spent a few minutes trying to walk off the injury before going down again. This meant Danny North was brought on after 20 minutes.

Chances were few and far between due to the conditions, however Silsden squandered a golden chance to equalize. The ball was squared in the area with the Silsden striker having a near open goal to tap into. However his effort went high over the bar, one to forget for the home side.

Five minutes before half time however it was Barton’s chance to miss a sitter. Ellis Barkworth played the ball in to Danny North, who mishit his shot and it went high and wide of the goal. North missed a further chance when his venomous shot went wide.

Seconds before the half time whistle the Swans doubled their lead. Some fantastic play from Noel Burdett and the left side saw him turn three defenders and put a cross in. However his cross curled into the top corner to put Barton two ahead, and Burdett had his second goal in as many games.

The second half saw heavy rain and swirling winds, making conditions even harder for both sides. Ten minutes into the second half Swans ‘keeper Sam Riches pulled off a magnificent save. The Silsden number nine was in on goal, and Riches pulled off a brilliant save with his feet to deny the hosts.

This save proved pivotal as Barton went and scored a third to wrap the game up. North was played in, with the Silsden defence believing he was offside, however North slotted home his first goal for the club with a cool finish.

Sam Riches was again the hero as he pulled off a double save to keep the clean sheet and to ensure Barton went home with all three points.
