Swans sign Ash Cooper and Josh Baker

Barton Town are pleased to announce the double signing of Ash Cooper and Josh Baker.

Cooper, 22, joins from Goole AFC and will cover for Robbie Start after he fractured his ankle in the 4-2 defeat against Liversedge earlier in the month. Baker, a midfielder, comes in after some time away in the United States.

Cooper has been ever present for Goole in the league this season, and is a left back but can play as a wing back. This means he suits our system and should hit the ground running at the Swans. Baker is a former Swan, having played for us three years ago before heading to the States to play.

Swans boss Craig Denton spoke of both signings: “I’m delighted to get Ash Cooper over the line, a player we’ve been looking at for the last couple of weeks. He’s someone who I’ve seen play before when he represented Swallownest. When he was at Goole this campaign he stood out like a sore thumb. He’s a really tough tackler and has got bags of energy. He’s young and was Goole’s skipper. We want to wish him a warm welcome to the Swans.”

“Josh Baker comes in after we have been given confirmation of international clearance. He’s a player who’s been playing out in the States, and he’s represented Barton previously. He’s young, he’s ambitious, he’s a player who can come in and make our squad stronger. He’s a player who wants to really progress and hopefully we will be able to provide him game time before he returns to the States.”

We would like to welcome both players to the club and wish them all the best at Barton Town.
