It was a bitterly icy cold Sunday morning so having a 12pm kick off at home helped and come kick off the playing conditions was almost perfect apart from the grass being too long but we coped better than our visitors Gainsborough Trinity.

We came out of the blocks the quickest, sharpest and with more composure and cutting edge and a wee bit of luck we could have and should have gone 2 or 3 goals up inside the opening 15 minutes or so with man of the match Max Mason looking especially sharper and quicker and before Max opened the scoring he hit the post and set up a few chances with his pin point crossing.

We welcomed back Sam Elia in midfield following his bad illness over Christmas and with him and Jay Holtby bossing the middle Gainsborough really showed no threat and the first half ended 1-0

2nd half came and so did more chances, Sam Hogg grew in confidence and more into the game and started creating some half chances down the left side and Max continued his good work swinging in some awesome crosses which was finally rewarded by Cole Hodson getting on the end of one and he added to his tally with another neat finish and the scoring ended with a cross again from the right but this time from Cole which was excellently headed in at the far post by full back Charlie Hinch.

With top goal scorer Harvey Robinson still missing although now back in training and a couple of late injuries to Shayne Johnson and Leo Braddish and sickness to others it was a very pleasing result indeed.

We move on now to our next match this coming Sunday 25th January again at home v Caistor Tennyson kick off 10.30am
