A nice wide flat pitch at Sunningdale Park, Bottesford was what we had today and with a 12.30pm kick off there was no excuses.

In a 1st half largely dominated by us they did give us one or two problems for us to think about.

Myself and Darren both remarked by half time how we looked like a ‘team’ and played together and for each other which was great to watch.

All that was said pre-match about aggression and quick movement was evident. Wing play is how we like to break teams down but our goal came from the centre when man of the match Cole Hodson collected the ball and cleverly lifted it over their centre back for our top goal scorer Harvey Robinson to slot the ball home.

Thoroughly deserved to go in at half time 1-0 up as we were a constant threat especially down our left as the ever running Max Mason caused them problems all half and with support play from midfield by Sam Elia and Jay Holtby it really should have been more.

The 2nd half started and we could soon see who wanted it as they came right at us and the first 10-15 mins they were worthy of a goal but a combination of some awful finishing and some expert defending especially by our centre back pairing George Edwards and Shayne Johnson the scoreline remained 1-0.

As the 2nd half continued I think we largely controlled play and a lot came down our right with Leo Braddish who never stopped running all match really deserved more from his work rate.

The only negative was an injury that forced Hayden Money to leave the field who was replaced by Alfie Stearman which meant Sam Elia went centre back and Shayne Johnson covered right back to protect what we worked so hard for.

Full time 1-0 in a game the referee gave us nothing and Bottesford everything left Darren and myself very pleased indeed.

We now move onto a very difficult match next Sunday 22nd March away vs App Frod Saints but if we show the same togetherness as we did today who knows…
