Player Retained – Scott Matthews
16th June 2021Barton Town are delighted to announce that Scott Matthews has signed for the Swans for the 2021/22 season.
The left sided player was ever-present for the Swans last season, making 14 appearances and scoring in our 4-3 win over Athersley Recreation with a beautifully struck free kick. He contributed a few assists through the curtailed season too with some pinpoint crossing.
A thorn in the side of most defenders, Scott is just as effective in defence as he is in attack.
His former clubs include Scunthorpe United, Lincoln United, Grantham Town, Belper Town and Brigg Town. He now enters his second season with the Swans and hopefully we will play a full season this time around.
Scott Matthews: “Really pleased to have agreed to sign for the new season, it was a no brainer really. It’s a fantastic club from top to bottom, we’ve got a great group of lads and with the new gaffer and coach North coming in I can’t wait for the season to start! Up the Swans.”
