Barton Town Reserves battled and secured a 3-1 win at the Easy Buy Stadium against a strong Louth Town side.
Jordan Smith gave the visitors the lead just before half time with a well taken strike. Just after the break Leon Burtt burst down the left and crossed in. The ball fell to Harry Bowes who struck low to equalize for the Swans.
With 20 minutes to go Barton struck twice in four minutes to seal the win. A free kick was floated in from the right, and it fell to Stephen McCarron. He volleyed it in to put Barton ahead before an excellent through ball from Joel Chapman found substitute Kai Thomas. He ran in and slotted it home to secure all three points for the Swans.
“We asked for a response and for 45 minutes, we didn’t show anything. We spoke in depth at half time, we spoke about playing our way, with our intensity and our pride and that reaction for me is one of the season highlights. Nobody left anything out on the field, we stayed focused and disciplined and that’s what pleases me the most. I was over the moon to see Harry, Kai and Stephen get the goals but they will admit themselves, it’s about the hard work building up to them moments. I don’t believe this result puts us favourites for Saturday, it’s 3 points, that’s it. Everything starts afresh now and we go to Louth looking to create history.”
