Under 10’s in cup clash with Scotter Saints
16th January 2023Report by Dave Thomas
On a cold, wet and windy day Barton Town Under 10’s had a very tough cup match against Scotter Saints at home.
In our first match of 2023 with a new coach and one new player hopes where high that we could do great things this year.
As the first half kicked off, Scotter were very quick off the mark scoring in the first minute, it was clear to see that this was going to be a very tough match and the team would have to work very hard to compete, we stepped up our game Joseph in goal was having to pull off many saves and our defence was very busy.
This was a difficult team to break down but we did manage to create two chances through Harry and Oscar, Harry would grab a goal late on in the first half unfortunately Scotter scored more goals.
As the second half began the whole team stepped up and was very competitive from the goalkeeper to the forward, three more chances where created from Oscar, Tomis and Kyle but we could not hit the back of the net. With Joseph making save after save and our defence playing out there skins Scotter would also not score in the second half.
On paper this was a very good side and all of our team played very well. Oakley our new signing showed what player he’s going to be lots of energy and some good passing, Oscar was full of running and remains a goal threat whoever we play and Joseph in goal plus everybody in midfield and our defence stepped up and made the second half very competitive.
A good start to 2023 let’s see if we can keep it up.
Managers player went to Oscar.
Players player and Parents player went to Joseph.
