It was an end to end first half, with the Swans looking the most likely to break the deadlock, with Ben Hinchliffe controlling a long ball, before shooting from distance, with the Knaresborough keeper parrying it to safety.

As a hailstorm came down over Barton, the Swans seized the advantage. A Josh Lacey throw in was flicked on by Nathan Hotte into the path of Harrison Coley. He took a touch to steady himself before shooting low past the ‘keeper and into the bottom corner.

No less than 30 seconds later Coley pressured the goalkeeper into a mistake, robbing him of the ball and tapping into an empty net to double the Swans’ advantage.

Knaresborough had an effort to halve the deficit soon before the break with Ewan Gregson shooting across goal and wide.

Sam Cable replaced Hinchliffe at the break with the striker having a slight hamstring issue.

Ten minutes into the half and Will Waudby was played in on the right, he cut onto his favoured left foot but his strike was blocked.

The Swans were pushing for a third to put the game to bed, but the visitors held firm, and started to put pressure on the Barton defence.

Knaresborough substitute Dan Hernandez shot from the left side, with Ryan Musselwhite parrying the shot into the back of the net.

The Swans, now in more need of a third goal, went forward with Cable played in. He cut down the byline and shot but it was blocked and out for a corner.

That miss would prove vital moments later when Luke Jones was left unmarked at the back post as a cross came in, he headed it past Musselwhite and into the bottom corner.

The Swans fought for a winner but couldn’t find one, with Barton having to settle for a point. They welcome league leaders North Ferriby to Barton on Tuesday.
