Barton Town are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Smaller from Cleethorpes Town.

He made 35 appearances for the Owls over the last three seasons, and spent the bulk of last season on dual registration with North Ferriby, who went on to win the NCEL Premier Division last season. The 20 year old is a former Grimsby Town trainee.

Josh is a versatile option for the Swans being able to play at centre half or right back.

Swans boss Nathan Jarman explained the reasoning behind Josh’s arrival. “Delighted to welcome Josh into the group. We needed an extra body after injuries to Tom Davie and Nathan Hotte, as well as Josh Lacey’s work situation. He trained Tuesday night and will train again tonight.

“He’s come here to play and will get an opportunity to impress, from there it’s up to him. He’s a centre back but also comfortable at right back. We’ve told the lads we aren’t settling for sixth place this season and will do everything in our power to move up the league table in the coming weeks.”

Welcome to the Swans, Josh!
