Swans sign Owen Davey following Grimsby Borough departure
21st December 2023Barton Town are delighted to announce the signing of Owen Davey following his departure from Grimsby Borough.
The 21 year old midfielder joins the Swans and is boss Danny North’s first signing for the club.
Owen has an impressive footballing CV despite his age, having won the NCEL Premier Division title with Borough in the 2021/22 season. He’s also been playing in step four consistently over the last season and a half. He now joins the Swans to bolster our midfield options.
“I wanted to sign for Barton because I have only heard good things about the club and lads here,” Owen commented.
“As soon as the gaffer got in touch and spoke about his interest in me signing it was a no brainer. His ambitions for the football club and the way he wants his team to play feels like a good match for myself. So I can’t wait to get started.”
Swans boss North commented on the deal: “As soon as I heard Owen was available I knew we had to go in for him. He’s experienced at this level and above, played a lot of games despite his age. He will help us defensively and make us stronger as a group. Speaking to lads who have played with him, they only have good things to say about his character and ability so I know he will fit in well with our group. Delighted to get it done as my first signing.”
Pending NCEL registration, Owen should be in line to make his debut for the club in tomorrow night’s Festive Friday fixture against Tadcaster Albion.
Welcome to the Swans, Owen!
