Foodbank Campaign – Thank You

Foodbank Campaign – Thank You

21st December 2022 Off By bartontown

The club would like to thank everyone who donated to our Christmas Foodbank campaign. Thanks to your generosity, the club managed to deliver 351kg worth of supplies to Barton Foodbank.

A group of our committee members delivered the supplies in our community minibus, kindly provided by Singleton Birch and AP Robinson & co, along with first team player Josh Lacey and some of our Under 9 players.

This haul is equivalent to a full day’s collection, so another huge thank you to those who donated and gave something.

Christmas can be a tough time for people, if you are struggling please get in touch with someone. There are some helpful contact details below for anyone who is struggling, including Samaritans, who kindly sponsor our Reserves side.

Details for the Barton Foodbank are as follows;

The foodbank service is available at The Salvation Army Community Church, Tofts Road, Barton upon Humber every Tuesday from 2pm – 3.30pm and every Friday from 2pm – 3.30pm. Barton Area Food Bank provides food, toiletries, pet food etc for local disadvantaged people. All donated items must be within date. People in crisis would benefit from any help. Our clients are people who may be long-term unemployed, recently out of work and waiting for benefits to be sorted, people who have started a new job, but whose wages are delayed, domestic problems where money used for food may have to be diverted elsewhere to pay for a repair or even illness in the family, those fleeing domestic violence, homelessness and so it goes on. The list is endless. You can be referred to the food bank by your GP, health professionals, Local Link offices, Job Centre and the Salvation Army. If you would like to donate to the food bank, they particularly need long life, dry and canned goods such as milk, fruit juice, and rice pudding. Please contact Margaret Siddell on 01652 632512 for more information to access the food bank, or you can also call 01652 637312 or email bartonareafoodbank@gmail.com.

The Salvation Army Church is also a designated Warm Space, should you need somewhere to stay warm this winter.
