A Message from the Chairman
9th May 2024Our season has been another busy one, with more teams getting involved under our banner. We had first seasons for some youth teams and our new ladies team. The first team finished the season 14th in the league which unfortunately is a step backwards for us and is not where we had hoped to finish.
The weather did not help which made us start and stop, but this cannot be an excuse we were just not good enough at times and we need to build again in the pre-season and push for a promotion place next season which still remains our main objective.
Regarding the weather, we have decided to try and get drainage on our pitch and have put in a planning application. If successful, we are hoping to install the drainage next pre season to help our pitch drain and not have to much of a stop start season. Also on the cards will be new LED floodlights. As I write these notes our reserves still have four home games to go due to the postponements of the first team so its so important to get the pitch done now.
The Reserves, depending on the next four results, will hopefully finish mid-table with our Under 18s squad this season finishing near the foot of the table. However, this is due to the new 16/17 year old players having their first season in the league and I’m sure we will be much stronger next season.
This is what our Development Squad is about getting the younger players ready for the higher leagues and to become better players. This will be same for our Ladies team who had their first season and started off slowly but towards the end of season was steadily putting in some good results and hopefully next season will have a better one from further support from the club.
Regarding our youth set up, we have just finished off our second season and it is going from strength to strength. Hopefully we will be setting up another two new teams next season as we watch these youngsters grow into adult players and hopefully for the first team and beyond.
All the above would not be possible without the support we get from our supporters, volunteers and our sponsors.
A massive thank you from everyone involved with the club, your support means so much to us and it is much appreciated.
We go again next season and the prepping starts now.
Up the Swans!
The Chairman
