A bit of a change for Barton Town – players and fans – with this match held on Friday evening… with Goole being just a short drive along the M62 the matches between the two sides are very much local derby matches this arrangement seemed to be popular with supporters of both teams as there were queues to get into the ground.

The match got off to a cracking start with Barton Town playing towards the Cricket Ground end. Intent showed in the first minutes with Craig King going inches wide inside two minutes, then Andy Norfolk chipping the box into the Goole box and Grant Tait appearing to be brought down by the keeper but no penalty was given.

With Tom Waudby launching himself skyward for a header and a ball in from Grant Tait, it wasn’t until 15 minutes in that James Hitchcock was troubled at the Railway Line end.

Goole started to get back into the game a bit with several corners before a break from the Swans gave Ali Aydemir a couple of good crosses and what looked to be a certain goal was denied on the line by the keeper.

Barton Town’s continued attacking on the Goole eventually resulted in a goal by Andy Norfolk ans a second by Tom Waudby before the added three minutes concluded the first half.

The Swans came out for the second looking to build on their two goal lead with Aydemir and Tait linking up well, and what appeared to be a third Barton goal disallowed after 20 minutes.

Both sides made substitutes during the second have and with less than 10 minutes of normal time to play a penalty was awarded to Goole; Liam Flanagan stepped up and cut the Barton lead to a single goal.

As the scoreboard clicked over to indicate normal time had ended there was then an extended delay with clear reason for the hold-up; whatever was going on saw Goole’s Keiran Clayton making an early walk to the changing room. Confusion continued as the referee indicated four minutes of added time but there had already been a good five minutes of delay when the game restarted.

That proved expensive for the home side as on100 minutes Liam Flanagan scored a second to equalise the match and share the points.
