The Reserves suffered a fifth loss of the season on Saturday as high flying Beverley Town won convincingly 4-0 on a superb pitch at Norwood.

With injuries and unavailability crippling the Reserves once again they travelled light but with enough in the squad to get something.

However the plan didn’t quite go as planned when Beverley took a 1-0 lead just four minutes in after the talented Beverley No. 10 dispossessed a Barton man on the half way line. He beat six players and put the ball on on a plate for the Bev forward to convert home.

Double trouble just a few minutes later as Beverley who were moving the ball incredibly well got a second again another goal that Barton could have defended better from and a ball in at the front post, which was put away cleverly by the Bev man inside the six yard box.

Patchett was forced off at the break with a tight groin and young 16 year old Kieran Hall was brought on to replace him. A slight shuffle in set up saw Barton respond and have a bright period of play forcing the Bev ‘keeper into a fine save and a couple of efforts on target.

However in true fashion when perhaps the Reserves were finding a way back into the game another defensive howler saw Beverley nick the ball and make it 3-0 and put the game to bed on the hour mark.

Beverley capped off a fabulous team performance with another well worked goal in the 73rd minute as they got in behind Barton’s right back and lifted the ball over the onrushing Barton skipper Sam Wood to make it 4-0.

In a game that saw Beverley completely dominate from start to finish, it could quite easily have been more.

Barton look to put that right on Saturday as they travel to Hull to take on LIV Supplies.
