Barton Town sealed their first away win of the season after a thrilling 4-3 win over local neighbours Bottesford Town.

Bottesford began stronger, hitting the post in the first 20 minutes before goals from debutant Adam Millson and Marc Cooper gave Barton a two-goal lead at half time. A quickfire double from Daniel Boulton brought Bottesford level before he completed his hat-trick. The Swans levelled through another debutant Waide Fairhurst before his last-minute lob sealed the points for the visitors.

Millson, Fairhurst, and fellow new signing Luke Foster made their debuts in the starting XI following their signings in the last couple of weeks.

The hosts began the game as the stronger side, and had a couple of half chances in the opening exchanges.

On 19 minutes Bottesford struck the post before committing a foul on Craig Disley, who had a stellar performance, cutting out many of Bottesford’s chances early on.

28 minutes in and Fairhurst showed Bottesford how dangerous he would go on to be. He managed to turn his defender and get a shot on goal. His effort trickled wide of the post but moments later the Swans would be ahead.

The ball fell to Millson, who from the edge of the area struck the ball into the bottom corner for a goal on his debut. A goal which had been coming for Barton.

Minutes later Marc Cooper was next to try his hand at the Bottesford goal. Tom Waudby swung in a cross and Cooper’s header went just wide. However, seconds later Will Waudby crossed the ball in and Cooper this time headed on target and past the keeper to double Barton’s lead.

30 seconds into the second half and Bottesford pulled a goal back. Dan Boulton ran into the area, held off a Barton defender and powered his shot past Sam Riches.

Nine minutes later they were level. Boulton again as his shot thundered in off the crossbar to put the hosts back in the game and with the momentum.

On the hour came Barton’s first change as Ben Hinchliffe replaced Cooper and the Swans top scorer added a sense of urgency to the side.

Though on 69 minutes Bottesford completed their comeback as while Riches pulled off a fantastic point-blank save, the rebound fell to Boulton who headed in for his hat-trick. A common theme of Barton’s season rearing its ugly head.

This time instead of heads dropping Barton fought back. A Pete Winn free kick was spilled by the Bottesford keeper and Luke Foster’s shot was saved somewhat luckily by the keeper.

Barton found their equalizer though as a brilliant through ball found Rogerson, who squared it to an unmarked Fairhurst, who slotted home to make the score 3-3.

It was a nervy final ten minutes as both sides wanted the winning goal. In stoppage time the winner went the way of the Swans.

A ball over the top wasn’t dealt with by Bottesford, and Fairhurst ran onto it and was in on goal. The keeper came out to meet it but Fairhurst expertly lobbed the keeper to seal the win for the Swans.
