Taron Hare returned to the side in place of the departed Stephen Cooper and new signing Ash Cooper made his debut.

12 minutes in there was an indication that the game was going to be a scrappy affair. Noel Burdett was booked for attempting to avoid a Terry Barwick tackle after he was adjudged to have caught Barwick in the process.

Burdett picked up an injury moments later and tried to run it off, but to no avail. Marc Cooper came on in his place.

The Swans were largely on top but the first half was full of half chances. Goole had one of the best chances to break the deadlock. Dangerous striker Devonte Morton ran through on goal with Hare in pursuit. Sam Riches came out to make Morton’s life harder but Hare put a brilliant challenge in to block him and clear the danger.

Seconds after the restart however Goole were ahead. Josh Schofield was played in and he slotted his effort low past Riches to give Goole the lead and score his seventh goal of the season.

Five minutes later Barton were back on level terms. The ball fell to Eddie Rogerson on the edge of the area. He hit his shot first time and it powered past Aiden Smith to give Barton a deserved equalizer.

The second half was more of the same, a scrappy game with little scuffles here and there. The referee handed out yellow cards aplenty, and for some players, the cards were well overdue.

Sam Riches kept Barton in the game was some fantastic saves. Schofield was again played in, but this time Riches got a palm to his shot and it was cleared.

Barton did take the lead after 75 minutes when a shot deflected off Vikings player manager Matt Bloor and ended up in the back of the net.

The Swans came under pressure in the latter stages. A fantastically struck free kick almost caught Riches off guard. However he managed to tip it over the bar in a brilliant save.

Craig Denton’s side held on for the win in a tough and scrappy game. The Swans move up to 12th and leapfrog Goole.
