Reserves Match Preview – Nettleham (H)

22nd April 2022 Off By bartontown

The Swans Reserves side are looking to build on last week’s Challenge Cup Quarter Final win when Nettleham visit the Easy Buy Stadium.

Barton will be out for revenge, having lost 4-3 in the reverse fixture in October. With the Swans having four games left to play, this fixture marks the first chance to reclaim tenth spot in the league. It’s currently held by Grimsby Borough Reserves but they have completed their season and are only two points up.

Form

Both sides have identical records over the last five league games, having won three, drawn one and lost one. In all competitions the Swans have only lost twice in the last ten games.

Team News

Stefan Wolkowski returns to manage his side having missed last weekend’s game. The first team trio of Kian Salter, Jacob Sweeting and Kadey Phillips are all likely to be involved. Matt Clayton is missing due to college commitments, and there’s potentially a debut for Stephen McCarron in midfield following the end of Brigg Town’s season.

Quotes

“The one thing we won’t let happen is for the lads to start thinking about the semi-final until the week building up to it. We have a job to do in the league, three points to take us back into the top ten and that’s the only thing on our mind. Nettleham are in some great form and have influential players back so they are very much at full strength. We are in a good place as well, in form and still looking to improve. Once more; the support from the Swan Army is so important to us. It lifts the lads so much as it did on Saturday.”
