Just one change from the draw against Garforth Town in midweek, Danny Trott started in place of Ben Hinchliffe, who was joined on the bench by the returning Nathan Hotte after four weeks out with an injury.

An early chance two minutes in as a Swans corner was flicked on by Josh Lacey but Trott couldn’t quite get to it. A signature Taron Hare long throw was then headed at goal by Tom Davie, but Jordan Quibell in the Bottesford goal saved it.

The first half was uneventful, with both sides cancelling each other out. Any half chances were soon dealt with by both sets of defenders. Just as it looked like the half would end all square, the Swans took the lead.

Another Hare long throw was blocked and sent wide. The resulting cross was headed in by Tom Waudby, an excellent goal which turned out to be the last action of the half with the referee blowing for half time seconds later.

Ben Hinchliffe came on for the second half in place of Trott looking for his 50th goal for the club. Harrison Coley had the first chance of the half as Tom Waudby laid it off, and Coley’s neat turn evaded the defender, but he dragged his shot the wrong side of the post.

The Swans had a free kick out wide, which Craig King delivered, Davie with the attempted header but he couldn’t quite get to it. Hinchliffe then having a chance which was saved by Quibell.

Nathan Hotte was introduced with 20 minutes to go as he came back from injury, replacing Davie who’d gone down with an injury himself.

Substitute Jack Tanser produced an excellent block denying a goal-scoring opportunity for the hosts, who did manage to get the ball into the back of the net soon after. However it was ruled out for offside in the build up.

With just two minutes to go, King delivered another free kick from the left. Hinchliffe headed it back across goal and it looked to be going in, but Tom Waudby was on hand at the back post to ensure it went in. His and Barton’s second, and the points were secured.

Chris Spinks had an effort in stoppage time but his shot was cleared off the line as the referee blew for full time. An excellent away win, which avenges the FA Cup exit at the hands of Bottesford.
