Swans sign midfielder James Playford

Barton Town are delighted to announce the signing of James Playford. The 28 year old midfielder signs for the Swans having recently played in Australia.

A former Doncaster Rovers and Grimsby Town player, James played for the likes of Cleethorpes Town, Gainsborough Trinity and Grimsby Borough before moving down under. He played for Sunshine Coast Wanderers in the Australian second tier.

Since arriving back in the UK last year he signed for Goole AFC, where he played last season.

James is a versatile addition to the squad, as either a central midfielder, or a ball playing centre back. Not only this but he can also play in behind the striker too.

Swans boss Nathan Jarman commented on James’ arrival: “James has been training with us for a couple of weeks and has really looked the part. We spoke in the summer but he was going away on a touring holiday, so we held off on bringing him in. He’s very comfortable on the ball and has an eye for a pass too. Looking forward to seeing what he can bring to our group now.”

Pending NCEL clearance he will be in the Swans squad to take on Golcar United this weekend.
